Overview
The demo library includes 40 designs. The Built-in Themes tab lists the bundled theme packages; Discover and My Themes show additional available or installed packages. Examples include Elegant Help Center, Modern Search, Documentation Pro, Corporate Blue and Gradient Hero. Browse the live gallery to see what is available on your site. A theme controls presentation; the content source determines whether the public site shows your shared articles or a theme demo.
When to use this
/support/ is a help center, not a portal dashboard. Logged-in visitors get header icons; the page stays KB.
Where to find the controls
Extensions → Knowledge Base Themes → Customize (#/extensions/kb-themes?tab=customize). Legacy KB Appearance settings links redirect to this owner.
Who can make these changes
Support Admin. Public visitors see the compiled theme.
Before you begin
Widths, columns 2/3/4, section enable/reorder (hero, categories, featured, popular, recent, tags, CTA). Hero title/subtitle/placeholder/background from Media Library.
Follow these steps
Preview the Home, Category and Article pages before choosing a theme. Set sections, save and open your public KB. To start from a complete demo, open Settings → Other → Backup, select the matching theme and download its original demo or copy its link. Restore that JSON or URL and confirm the selected active theme. The backup includes articles, navigation, header, footer, layouts, artwork and matching KB presentation settings. Review your public Home, menus, an article and search after restoring. Your KB address and access policies remain site settings.
Settings reference
Brand Kit logo/favicon inherit. Custom CSS stays the Theme Builder scoped field.
Example workflow
Documentation Pro shows a left category nav. Gradient Hero uses a full-bleed header.
Good practices
Hero search uses KnowledgeSearchService. Suggestions are real articles.
Important considerations
Theme layout does not replace article publication, visibility, or search settings. Verify public content after saving.
If something does not work
Tag URLs 404: flush permalinks. Rewrite signature includes /support/tag/{slug}/.
